American actress Allison Brooks Janney was born on November 19, 1959. Her performances on screen and stage have been praised over the course of her three-decade-long career. Janney has been honored with many awards, including an Academy Award and a British Academy Film Award. Also, she received Seven Primetime Emmy Awards. In addition, two Tony Awards were nominated. Janney is originally from Boston and was raised close to Dayton the city of Dayton in Ohio. She was awarded a scholarship to study at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art following her graduation from Kenyon College. Janney's first appearance on television was 1999, when she played C. J. Cregg in NBC's political drama The West Wing (from 1999 to 2006). She received four Primetime Emmy Awards for the character. Her role on the Showtime series Masters of Sex, Margaret Scully, Janney won the Primetime Emmy Award 2014 for Outstanding Guest Actress In a Drama Series. Janney received nominations at least six times for Primetime Emmy Awards and twice won Outstanding Supporting Actress Comedy Series.
